Are Habitat Homes free?
No. Habitat homeowners pay an affordable monthly mortgage for the term of their loan – usually 30-35 years. Habitat homes are sold to partnering families with an interest-free mortgage.
Who can apply for a Habitat Home?
FCHFH encourages anyone and everyone seeking permanent, affordable housing to apply through our homeownership program. FCHFH partners with low-to-moderate income individuals who are willing to complete 200 hours of Sweat Equity in order to build their own Habitat home.

What is Sweat Equity?
Sweat Equity is a key part of Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program. It is the process of a new homeowner investing work into their home or one for another family. It’s an opportunity for families to help build their home alongside volunteers and play an active part in making their dream of owning a home a reality. FCHFH requires homeownership partners to complete 200 hours of Sweat Equity.
